Reading the signs of the times, a group of like-minded and determined people came together to start an English medium school at Dhing with a view to impart better teaching to the students. Initially, the school was named as Thing Model School’ on 8 Jan, 1991, at Madhav Dev Natya Mandir, later shifted to the residence of Hiranya Hazarika, from there to `Ratna Bhavan & Late Tara Chand Nahar’s residence. The School Management found it difficult to manage and run the school and decided to hand over to Salvadorians (SDS) on 1 Jan 1998 and it was renamed as CHRIST JYOTI SCHOOL and shifted its present location on 25th March, 1998.
CHRIST JYOTI SCHOOL, Dhing is an English Medium Minority Educational Institution entrusted to the Society of the Divine Saviour (SALVATORIANS).
The Society of the Divine Saviour (SDS) was founded in Rome in 1881 by Fr. Francis Jordan, a German Priest with the aim of making Jesus Christ, the Divine Saviour known to all people everywhere. As early as 1890, he sent his first Missionaries to Assam, even though he could hardly spare the men. But during World War I, they had to abandon many of the flourishing centers in Shillong and Assam and go back to their native land Germany. Today, however the Society has worldwide membership. In India too, it has re-established itself in 1989 and we are grateful to God that Christ Jyoti School is part of that establishment.
CHRIST JYOTI SCHOOL, Dhing has been at the forefront of adopting the most modern innovations and practices to ensure that there is a continuous enhancement in the over-all quality of teaching and learning. SMART CLASS and the introduction of Computerization of SERC (School Evaluation Report Card), Installation of CCTV camera, Digital ID and time to time SMS to Parents/Guardians/Students are towards that direction. We keep updating and working unceasingly to make Christ Jyoti School, Dhing into a true temple of learning and a fortress of discipline.
Thank You!

Christ said “I am the light (Jyoti) of the world”(Jn.8:12). And the one who follows his light Will never walk in darkness but Will have the light of life.
The word ‘light’ was specially associated With the Jewish thought and language of God. “The Lord is my light” (Psalm 27:1) “By His light I walked through darkness.” (Job 29:3)
When Christ claimed to be the light of the world, He was making a claim that none could possibly be higher. Christ was aware of his closeness to God and he knew that he needed no other authority than God to corroborate his claim.
As human beings we can never make such a claim, for we live our lives half in the light and half in the darkness. Sometimes we endure a constant fear that the light may break in, because we prefer the safety of darkness. The safety of darkness is the safety of a prison or the illusory safety of sleep. The light alone makes us free from anxiety, and from neurotic delusion. There are good things in life which we do not parade or talk about, certainly for excellent reasons of privacy or modesty or confidentiality. There are lovely things said, words which heal and encourage the sorely wounded soul, words of intimate trust and pure affection, which have no pertinence in the public domain, but if they were made public we would not be ashamed of them.
At times, it may happen that in spite of everything else our human goodness may fail. But then the “Light of Christ” is there always to help and encourage us to return to the right path. We should not be afraid to come out of our darkness into the Light of Christ, for that light is not condemnation but compassion and new creation. Let this be a constant encouragement to all those who pass through Christ Jyoti School.
